مولاي قد نامت عيون
O my lord many eyes have slept
وتيقظت أيضاً عيون
while other eyes have waked up
نامت عيون الخائنين
the eyes of the deceivers have slept
وعين نجمك لا تخون
but the eye of your star will never deceive
ترنو إلينا وهي ساهية عن الدنيا الخؤن
She looks at us while she unmindful of this deceiving dunia (worldly life)
أتُراهُ أذهلها جلالُ الله أم مرُ القرون
would you say she astonished by the majusty of Allah or by the passing of centuries ?
أم أن من فوق الثرى لا يسمعون ولا يعون
or those who are upon the ground didn't hear nor comprehend
ويحُ نفسي أفلم ترى وهي ترسف في سجون
Alas my self, don't you see that you confined in prisons
